The Grillin 'N Chillin' 500

The Grillin 'N Chillin' 500 has been an annual weekend event hosted by promotor Jim Hoar. Jim is one of 2 slot car Maniacs I race with who have raced everything form slotcars to the real deal where the rubber meets the dirt and/or asphalt. Jim has slot car raced for eons and traveled most anywhere to race!! With his experience and history he might consider writing a book!!
When I 1st came back into HO racing Jim was one of the 1st people I encountered. And as you might expect it was in need of assistance. He was more than amiable and helpful as he has always been to this day. With that demeanor he has chosen to host an annual race he calls, 'The Grillin' 'N Chillin' 500'. This is a weekend event where he schedules a series of races using classes of his choice. As an example he might race JL Sportsman(NASCAR), Fray and VHORS Classic Stock. He might throw in a race or 2 more. His facility provides massive room for pit areas. The racing show takes place on 2 tracks. One is a TYCO oval. Not all that big but they will fly!!! The other is a HUGE Wizzard road course. This track boasts a l-o-n-g straight but to get back to the top of that straight stretch you will have to be able to get through the road course part. This section has a series or corners and small straight stretches. As with this event Jim provides sustanance in the form of a surf and turf menu. Very befitting of his home state. The atmosphere is low keyed and friendly. Several notable persons who have ventured to the race are Lewis Wuori and Henry Harnish. I believe both won events. Latest Info On the 2010 GNC500
from the desk of Jim Hoar, 12/23/09 The G-N-C 500 will be on July 10-11th of 2010. It is traditionally held the w/e following the 4th of July. Of special mention would be there is plenty of parking and camping space plus vendors are definitely welcome to enjoy free table space and the free food as well. Will most likely be doing lobsters, burgers, dogs for this years event instead of the party sub. Subway is cutting back on their community sponsorship donations.
We most likely will run races that fill every class run at major events to include VHORS SS, Classic Stocks, Indy, Coupes, Sportman Coupes, NSC Sportsman and a G-Jet Enduro race of about 2-3 hrs length.
